Week 4: RSS & Newsreaders

I found some great RSS feeds for personal as well as professional use. I'm now subscribing to health alerts and book reviews! Don't think my middle schoolers would use RSS feeds, but I'm certain staff would subscribe to some "best practices" teaching feeds which I"m going to search for.

SECOND BLOG about FLICKR #5 Week 3 FLICKR

I'm a digital camera addict with over 2,000 photos in my iPhoto library so exploring this site was most interesting. I take a lot of photos of my grandson, but have a private account through my apple account. I would be concerned about putting his photos on this site since I saw some questionable photos. Since we have students whose photos are not allowed to be taken, I would have some reservations about using flickr in the school setting. I have my library photos posted on my library web page so they are easily seen by students. They are ones whose photos are permitted to be posted and no names appear with these photos.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/daryl-hunter/3075634193/ This is a great photo of a black wolf in the Lamar Valley in Yellowstone National Park. I had the unique privilege of watching a wolf pack a few summers ago in this valley. Awesome experience.

I just checked out one of the 3rd party Flickr programs (Trading cards and Moo.com) Just great sites -- has potential for use in projects, but students will need to have personal photos they can upload from flash drive.

First Blog

Wow! This is the first "official" blog I have designed. I'm already thinking of ways to incorporate this into my library program
